Episode 10: Sarah Lacy

Founder, CEO, Author, and Tech Journalist, Sarah Lacy, on motherhood as an asset, and her own experiences fundraising and building companies.

In this episode, I had the opportunity to speak with Sarah Lacy, the founder and CEO of Chairman Mom. In our conversation she shared some of her experiences as a woman in tech, including fundraising with a baby and the reasons she developed Chairman Mom, a new online community for working parents. In 2011, prior to starting Chairman Mom, she also founded Pando.com, which she built into a profitable investigative journalism company.

She’s been a journalist for nearly 20 years, known for her fearless, outspoken reporting. She’s been profiled in publications as varied as the New York Times and San Francisco Magazine, and is a sought after speaker, and guest on national TV and radio. Her book, “A Uterus Is a Feature Not a Bug: The Working Woman’s Guide to Overthrowing the Patriarchy” (HarperBusiness) has been described as part memoir, part manifesto on the power of working mothers.

In this episode, she also shared some of her thoughts on the importance of seizing opportunities, getting comfortable with being the only woman in the room, appreciating your current state, and conquering worry.
